Lookie the Kitty
A compilation of various clips of my Boozer. Generally boring to most people but this is my blog and I'll put what I want.

St Patrick's Day
It's St. Paddy's Day today and I cooked and slept. Oh, and I played this flash game online based off of World of Warcraft but assuming the role of a Murloc. It was fun. I especially liked having my level 10 guy beat up a level 60 Night Elf :D
So, for my St. Patrick's Day dinner, I made (*drum rolls*) Guinness-soaked beef and Colcannon. Guinness and potatoes. How much more Irish can one get?
The Colcannon tasted like mashed potatoes -- which, I know, is what it basically is but I was hoping the cabbage would add some weird twist to it. Although, I must say, the saute'd onions go very well with it so I shall be adding that to all future mashed potato foods.
Guinness-soaked beef is fan-freakin'-tastic! Good God Almighty! That shit was just plain awesome. Who knew Guinness and herbs would make such a superbly delightful marinade and sauce? Well, OK, the Irish did; but up till 3 hours ago, I didn't.
And then there was garlic cheesy bread that I made yesterday and is already getting stale :P

Just to clear up...
FYI: I did not cave in because of the yummies. I caved in because making yummies is my hobby-of-the-week and I got bored when my roommate went to bed and I couldn't make anything (had to be quiet and all).

Caved
10 days isn't too bad at all; but I totally caved today. More out of boredom than anything else. I am stuck on a "when there is nothing to do, eat" mentality. I feel bad (for caving) and good (10 days) at the same time.

Back from hiatus
Haven't posted anything in quite a while. Not really sure what to post now, either.
Ooh, something new: I am on a fast. Shooting for 40 days (fingers crossed) but I'm not commited to it such that if I feel I should stop I won't. I started last Monday and I hope to last all the way to Easter. It'll be like Lent.
Ok, let me make myself clearer. I am on a juice fast. Nothing but juiced fruits and veggies and, of course, water. Lots and lots of juice. Lots and lots and lots of juice.
I tell ya: there are some foul tasting combinations out there. Tomatoes with spinach and carrots? Tastes great together on a salad but when juiced together form what I am tempted to call: poo. Not simply because it tastes awful (spinach and carrots, yummy in a bland way; tomatoes and carrots - yummy in a sweet way; spinach and carrots and tomatoes - it's like the drink can't decide whether to be one or the other); it also looks incredibly bad. Red mixed with orange mixed with green makes brown (which is, you guessed it, the color of poo!)
But there are some really great recipes out there. Orange-grapefruit-lemon-grape? Fuckin' awesome!
The fast was actually going swimmingly until the weekend came. Heavy rains, tornado warnings here in Missouri, broken down car and a low, low supply of produce equaled hunger. I embarassingly confess that I ordered pizza. But I am going to, erm, repress that memory and forget it ever happened with a single press of an internal mental computer button. There!
Now it is Monday, I have a fridge full of fruits and veggies, my tummy is growling and I can't do anything about it except drink stupid water because my roommate is still going to be asleep for another hour and the juicer is hella noisy.
Oh, and I made a carrot cake with cream cheese topping! It smelled good. It is sort of a birthday present for Phil's mom. I had a big cup of juice before starting and another after I put it in the oven and, amazingly enough, I didn't really crave for it. Which suprised me because I always crave food whether I am hungry or not.
In fact, that's why I am on this fast -- to break this apparent food addiction I am harboring. It had gotten to a point where I would not stop eating until I was stuffed (think Thanksgiving gorging except almost everyday). And so, I am attempting to sort of start anew with a nice clean slate.
Few years ago, if I visited someone's house and they had a sweet jar or a little plate of nuts or other tidbits out for people, I would have no trouble not taking anything (in fact, it would never really cross my mind to). Now, if someone did that, I would gladly take with a thanks and then wonder how much more I could take before I seemed rude.
This week, however, could be quite a bitch. I seem to have been bitten by a cooking bug. I want to cook. Well, bake, to be more specific. My mind has been, almost involuntarily, making a whole list of foods that I have never made before and should try making at least once. Biscotti, chocolate mayonnaise cake (ever had that? It's so damn moist) strawberry shortcake, banana bread, foccocia pizza (which I have made but not in a long time), carrot cake (made that! It's in my fridge waiting for this evening when it will be presented to the birthday gal), salmon with ginger glaze.
Alright, that last one is an actual craving. Have you ever had it though? It's fabulous. Sweet, flaky fish flesh with tangy, sweet glazing over it. Mmmmm...

Hahaha! I am just torturing myself here. I think I'll stop.
